Hey there, Charles Westover here with Advanced Laser Solutions, and this is your Smoker's Minute. Today, I want to talk to you about picking the perfect day to quit smoking. There never really is a perfect day. I just want to say that upfront: there really never is a perfect day. The stars will never completely align to take all the stress out of your life—all the problems at work, all the problems at home, all the bills. All those different things are going to cause you stress, whether you're smoking or not smoking.The difference between a smoker and a non-smoker is that a smoker deals with stress by smoking. That's typically the first thing you tend to do. I know how it is; when I used to get stressed out, the first thing I would do was smoke a cigarette. So, when you decide that you're going to quit smoking, you have to realize that those stresses are still going to be there. No one’s going to come up, bonk you on the head, and say, “Today’s your day to quit smoking, and everything is going to be smooth sailing from this point forward.” You’re never going to have another stress in your life.The key thing to focus on is to think ahead and think past the day that you quit smoking. Know that there are going to be stresses and think about some of the things you can do to alleviate some of those stresses. We’ll be talking a little bit more about that in some of the other videos. But today is the perfect day to quit smoking. Tomorrow is the perfect day to quit smoking. Any day that you decide to quit smoking is the perfect day.All the outside conditions in the world aren’t going to change. It’s you who has to change and make a decision to quit. We’ve helped people quit who’ve been going through divorces, who’ve been dealing with deaths or illnesses in their families. Those are some of the worst times to even think about quitting smoking. But the difference it made for those people by quitting smoking is that they made a decision. They made a commitment that no matter what was going on, “I’m going to quit today.”That’s really where it starts—it starts with you. So, make that commitment today. You’ll be so happy that you did.
